Thursday-Friday, May 30-31 – Happy Birthday, Walt!

Join UCLA Writing Programs from 1-5pm on Thurs. 5/30 and Fri. 5/31 on Janss Terrace (between the fountain at the top of Janss Steps and Powell Library) to celebrate Walt Whitman’s 200th birthday! The Good Gray Poet was born on May 31, 1819!

Poets (including UCLA student, staff, and faculty poets, and poets from Melrose Poetry Bureau) will be stationed at typewriters ready to create poetry on demand. We’ll also have free giveaways and a special performance by puppeteer Jared Ramirez from Bob Maker Marionette Theater with an amazing Walt Whitman marionette designed and built by Philadelphia-based artist, Gina Leigh.

Free and open to the public. Hope to see you there! No RSVP required but if you like, RSVP here!
